Wirra Wirra Church Block Cabernet Shiraz Merlot 2010

A McLaren Vale classic from Wirra Wirra – ripe, rich and generous.  When this wine started out 40 years ago it seems that ‘Church Block’ was in fact a Grenache Shiraz blend (something that Wirra Wirra still produce from time to time). Over the years it has transformed into the current Cabernet Shiraz Merlot blend while Wirra Wirra remains a producer with its own brand of personality. Check out its vid.

Church Block has plenty of spicy blackcurrant from the dominant Cabernet, which is enhanced by pepper, cloves and vanilla oak.  The fruit is plush as it enters the mouth and has it fresh acid and ripe soft tannins. A good wine for sharing with friends and having a good natter over. Fuller bodied, smooth oak  – a big juicy mouthful.  Would you expect anything less?
