WBW#74 – Pizzini Brachetto 2010

The Pizzini label is one that represents the savvy initiative of the family. Not only do they make great wines – including some of the best Italian varietals I’ve tasted outside of Italy but the cellar door is housed in the now defunct tobacco factory overlooking the glorious & bucolic rolling hills and is welcoming to all & family.
This is a ‘must have’ for your fridge, you never know when the feeling for something lightly fizzy & pink will strike – it might be when guests pop in, it might be to go with fragrant Asian style seafood or it might be when you need just a little ‘you’ time. This was a Moscato style wine that the man in my life had more than one glass of!
The Brachetto grape is rather unique to find in Australia – the Pizzini family call it the red version of the muscat grape. There is very little even coming in from Italy. It has a nose that is reminiscent of summer roses with that distinct grapey-ness that we love in Moscato style wines & some delightful ripe strawberry. It is lush, well balanced & with a low enough alcohol that you do not have to just stop at one!
