Tomfoolery Son of a Gun 2010

A Barossa blend of cabernet sauvignon (80%) and shiraz (20%) from a new wine producer Tomfoolery.  With an evocative name, owners Ben Chipman and Toby Yap are self described ‘likely lads’ from the Barossa that are, in fact, serious about making wines that will take your senses on a journey.  And an honest journey at that!

In this wine, the aromas of nutmeg, blackberry and plum fruit are ripe and luxuriously perfumed with violets.  Twelve months in old oak pushes the fruit forward and then gives extra detail to the length. The Sun of a Gun also gives a fragrant mouthful of juicy tart cranberry and soft cherry just for interest.  Enjoy that floral note now or put it away for a few years and see it grow.
