Howard Park 2009 Flint Rock Chardonnay

The potential for the Great Southern wine region in Western Australia is really still being discovered. There is increasing interest in the region, though, from some of the Margaret River producers. Howard Park is one of the producers leading the pack. The Flint Rock Chardonnay is sourced from the cooler Mt Barker sub-region & a portion has been barrel fermented with a slightly warmer ferment which enhances the natural minerality from the region.
The result is a creamy fleshy Chardonnay with a smokiness & minerality to the stonefruit & citrus. It is a modern medium bodied style with some firmness along the long palate. It is a wine that will match nicely with a grilled lemon chicken salad or a pear & brie tartlet perhaps.
