Helm Premium Riesling 2010

Kkenhelmen Helm is one of Australia’s faces of Riesling – domestically & internationally.  He seems to be indefatigable in his quest to keep Australian Riesling dynamic & fresh. Ken’s Premium Riesling is grown on the vineyard neighbouring his own close to the township of Murrumbateman. Being on a northerly slope gives the grapes lots of sunshine to ripen but the cool nights keeps that famous Riesling acidity zippy.

This is the epitome of Riesling in its youth – fragrant & citrusy just creeping towards deeper ripeness but with tight minerality.  It is a dry Riesling but has a very fine texture with a line of flavour that keeps lingering.  These styles of Riesling are very enjoyable young but age very gracefully & graciously.  That cutting acid & lemon character really responds well to oysters or a light salad with plenty of homegrown herbs & tangy feta.
