Gosset Excellence Brut
A fine Champagne should be rich in texture, flavour & aroma and should always have a fine and persistent line of bubbles. Gosset is one of my favourite Champagne Marques (brands), not only at this tier, but all their wines are superb. I still have one extra special bottle of 1989 Vintage in a magnum that I am reluctant to open just yet. Gosset wines do not go through malolactic fermentation so that they retain their freshness longer in the bottle.
The Excellence Brut ticks all the boxes, it has a fine bead, it is crisp with the right balance of creaminess and richness. It is alive with smoky apple and nutty brioche character and a long lasting length.
