Frankland Estate 2009 Olmo’s Reward

Frankland Estate produces some of my favourite Rieslings, particularly from the Isolation Ridge & Poison Hill vineyards. For those who do not join me in my Riesling fanaticism, do not despair for the Smith Cullam family also produce some very drinkable reds too.
The blend for 2009 is 62% fragrant Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot, 16% Malbec & Cabernet Sauvignon 5% all from the organic Isolation Ridge Vineyards. Wafts of cinnamon, chocolate, savoury earth, perfumed with some cherry & cedar lift out of the glass to greet you. Elegantly mediumed bodied, it is silky smooth with soft fruit and some fine tannins. A wine of poise & texture that is a fine dinner companion today but I would also keep a few languishing in the cellar.
