Leabrook have moved to the 2007 vintage now but there may be some 2006 still [...] The Orange vineyards of Philip Shaw, Koomooloo, are amongst the highest in Australia and it is not just a cool name, it is cool by nature as well. Here Philip Shaw is creating wines that are consistently fresh & distinctive.
The nose has the perfumed berry fruit nose of Cab Franc but also has some dried rose notes. For those who might be chasing a wine with less or no oak, look no further – no oak has been used in this wine so that the fruit is fresh and looking bright. The Procrastinator fits [...] This is a wine that brings to mind Roast Beef & Yorkshire Puds. The nose is fragrant plums, spicy mulberry with just a hint of sweet vanilla with some additional nuttiness coming through on the palate. The fruit is intense, sweet and fragrant and is deliciously backed up by enough savouriness to keep [...] The 2006 vintage has been made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot – classic Bordeaux grapes. The blend has produced a wine of fine complexity throughout. The aromas are still youthful minty, pepper, blackberry, plums, cassis with some aniseed liquorice and savoury characters. It is a nicely textured and balanced wine with chewy [...] Atlast, a wine that has been named for people like me! Once it decides to get into the glass it is a vibrant ruby with purple highlights. The nose resounds with fresh fragrant blackberries, dark cherries with just a touch of toast leading into rich berry fruit flavours. While no slouch in the alcohol [...] The Emporio is a blend of Merlot (53%), Cabernet Franc (32%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). It is a wine of lovely texture and complexity, a wine to sit and contemplate. The fact that it has the aroma of Green and Black’s Maya Gold Chocolate, pepper and blackberry makes it even more interesting.
