Taylors 2010 Gewurztraminer

Taylors Estate Gewurztraminer

Dry, sweetly perfumed with spicy rose & tropical lychee that are typical for wines made from this big-hearted grape. Matching the richness on the nose, the plush fruit bursts onto the palate immediately making you slow down to literally ‘smell the roses’.

St Huberts Pinot Noir 2008

This Pinot is typical cherry & spice with some earthy savouriness.  It is just coming into its warm spicy prime & is juicy and as silky as you could wish for in a Pinot Noir.

Mount Pleasant Elizabeth Cellar Aged Release Semillon 2005

The 2005 has the toasty lemon with smoky honey that makes it a good aged Semillon prospect at a value price point. The flavours hang around in the mouth & end on a honeyed note. Good drinking now but could keep for a little longer too.

Taltarni Three Monks 2010 Fume Blanc

There is plenty of ripe passionfruit & peach in this Sauvignon Blanc, the time in oak & on lees has also imparted a light creaminess while still keeping the varietal refreshing acidity.  The softer style makes it a succulent wine to share with friends. The price is not too shabby either.

Starvedog Lane 2004 Sparkling Brut

Made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier the nose is rich with lightly toasted brioche, lemon & baked apple aromatics. Dry with a creamy mousse that borders on indulgent but has enough restraint to remain crisp & refreshing.  The flavour lingers in the mouth and keeps building with each sip.

NV Grant Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay Sparkling

Delightful baked apples, citrus, stonefruit and brioche flavours with just a touch of lean minerality and nuttiness. It is all that you can ask for in a good fizz – crisp and refreshing yet still has that characteristic creamy texture. Drink it lightly chilled with some fresh seafood canape’s in a crisp pastry shell.

Matilda’s Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Pungent Elderflower & passionfruit characters with some cool climate backbone firmly in place. It is dry (I find that some of the SB’s these days have too much residual sugar) with satisfying fruit weight and length.  A crisp refreshing SB to look out for.
