Pikes Traditionale Riesling 2012

This is one of the classic Rieslings from the Clare that you will always find a spot for in your fridge as well as your cellar. If you are lucky, it will be chilling with some Pikes beer. While ‘The Merle’ is from the Polish Hill sub-region in the Clare, ‘Traditionale’ has been sourced from throughout the Clare & has the typical citrus characters of the region.

The pristine lime & lemon citrus has that vital nerve that you want to see in fine Clare Riesling with a slatey backbone. It is delicate & linear along the long palate with tangy acid that has poise & balance.  Enjoy it now with fresh lush seafood on a hot day.

Jim Barry Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

With its distinctive striped top it is a bottle that is easy to find on the shelf.  The Cover Drive is a blend of both Coonawarra and Clare Valley fruit. A big hearted red with softness at its core. The cassis is lifted with some red fruit and chocolate and the fruit is ripe, plush and generous. A good drop regardless of whether you are a cricket fiend and definitely should be a wine that you enjoy while kicking back.

Taylors Estate Shiraz 2010

A reliable shiraz from a family that produces wines that consistently deliver, something that the rest of the world recognize as well considering the number of international gongs that they accumulate each year.

Aromas of plums, blackberry, spice and Clare Valley chocolate liquorice rise from glass. Fuller in body with soft, sweetly ripe fruit and supple tannins that finishes warm but still welcoming. A wine that you can enjoy with lamb chops with mash that is embellished with a squeeze of wasabi.

Leo Buring Clare Valley Dry Riesling 2011

A finely balanced Riesling with an elegance that sits prettily on the tongue. Lime zest and spicy floral honeysuckle is kept in line with a chip of limestone.  The fresh acid zips softly across the tongue. Enjoy with salt and pepper calamari where the floral fruitiness is enhanced and the wine will keep the flavours alive. The lighter style suits this wine and you may find that a glass may not be enough.

Matchbox Wine Co Riesling 2011

Introducing a classic Clare from the Skilly Ridge. The Matchbox wine duo, Nav Singh & Louise Radman, have included this poised Riesling in their first release and I look forward to seeing their style continue to evolve.

After some skin contact and wild ferment followed by eight months on lees, there is texture to the inherent regional tautness of this wine. Spicy blossom, talc and citrus meld in a concerto for the senses. After hitting mid palate, the soft but still crisp acid zips along the entire length of the palate with a spicy flourish on the finish. It is an elegantly weighted white that is a pleasure with or without food.
