A fine Champagne should be rich in texture, flavour & aroma and should always have a fine and persistent line of bubbles. Gosset is one of my favourite Champagne Marques (brands), not only at this tier, but all their wines are superb. I still have one extra special bottle of 1989 Vintage in a magnum [...] Another very interesting wine from Chrismont in the King Valley. There are very few producers of Marzemino in Australia but if you have a closer look at Chrismont’s wine portfolio, there are plenty of Italian surprises there and all worth seeking out. This is a richer blend of sparkling wine from a fizz portfolio that has almost as much length and breadth as this wine. Chandon’s line up moves from this just pink tinged lush and plush Doux (sweeter) style to the très elegant ZD (Zero Dosage) at the opposite end of [...] Moscato can be simple and sweet, but this Moscato has some depth about it. It is lightly pink in the glass, it is grapey as you would expect but it has a delightful (Turkish that is!) rosewater and mineral complexity to it. It is medium sweet but not sickly and has a long length that [...] It is not often that you get a vintage sparkling wine made from Sauvignon Blanc, let alone a dry sparkling SB, but Ant Moore is setting about carving out a unique niche for his wines. By now you may have noticed that I often recommend a particular wine as a ‘good alternative to a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc’… I have certainly not hidden the fact that I find many Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs like an acid bath on sensitive teeth – a bit overwhelming and sometimes [...] This vintage of Dom is as superb as always. At this level of quality of wine, the enjoyment should be as complext and layered as the wine itself whether it be red, white or sparkling. The complexity of the toasted brioche, nutty maripan, citrus Like Ok. We all agree that we are in the swing of the festive season and that Sparkling wine is perfect for the occasion, but I now could not imagine a Christmas without popping something that is in the pinkish red spectrum of colour.
