If you are after a pleasant mid week quaffer which has the softness to truly qualify as an easy drinker, this is your wine. The wine has abundant sweet smoky oak and ripe plummy blackfruit character. It would be a great match for bangers & mash with loads of caramelled onions. A perfect wine for [...] This is a wine that brings to mind Roast Beef & Yorkshire Puds. Being a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (14%), Cabernet Franc (12%), Malbec (5%) & Shiraz (5%) nothing about this wine is straight forward except that it is rather tasty and that immediately you taste it you think of food. Even the Cabernet [...] The wine has matured to an inky garnet colour that is typical for a bottle of wine that is unfined and unfiltered. Being from St Emilion, Monbousquet is predominantly Merlot which represents 60% of the final blend with the remainder being 30% Cabernet Franc and Like While Merlot is either loved or snubbed, this is an interesting wine from Highbank, a biodynamic winery in the Coonawarra. It has all the varietal plums and mulberries that you want but has some added complexity of smoky mintiness with some vanilla rounding out the palate Like With only a touch of pink, the makers of Pink Billy call the colour ‘nude’ referring to the ‘show girl’ personality that the team have bestowed on this rosé. Perhap Like The grapes for this Merlot have come from Coonawarra vines up to 35 years old producing a wine with richness and ripeness. This wine certainly does not lack fruit as can be attested Like The 2006 vintage has been made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot – classic Bordeaux grapes. The blend has produced a wine of fine complexity throughout. The aromas are still youthful minty, pepper, blackberry, plums, cassis with some aniseed liquorice and savoury characters. It is a nicely textured and balanced wine with chewy tannins, [...] Last night, I attended the Coonawarra Roadshow and tasted some of the best from that illustrious region. The region was represented with some well established names there as well as some new names to look out for. On the whole, the wines that were present showed many classic Coonawarra hallmarks – rich, concentrated [...] The Emporio is a blend of Merlot (53%), Cabernet Franc (32%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%). It is a wine of lovely texture and complexity, a wine to sit and contemplate.
